Capcom is at it again. They just can’t seem to leave the Blue Bomber alone. First the cancellation of Legends 3, then the horrific decision to make him a big joke in Street Fighter X Tekken, then the laziness of using a fan’s game to try and bring fans back into the fold, and now this.
- And you thought THIS was bad.
As you might have heard at PAX EAST, Capcom said they didn’t want to announce anything about the new Mega Man title in the works just yet. Well that alone tells us there is a game in the works. What is the game about? Well we were lucky enough to sit down and talk to a member of the Capcom Team in charge of this new title. He wanted to remain anonymous and we didn’t have a lot of time with him. The big announcement is the game will be titled Mega Mare: Friendship is Mega.
Artist rendition of what we could see, unless we hopefully go blind first.
If you have not caught on, this will be a sort of My Little Pony and Mega Man mash up. The reason behind this as the Capcom member said is because gamers love cross overs. Mega Man VS Street Fighter is a perfect example.
“We took two things that everyone loves, and put them together. That will truly make the fans happy and will be a great way to celebrate the 25th anniversary.”
While we weren’t given anything visual to go by, he did say that Wayforward would be in charge of the game design.
“We saw what they did with Duck Tales and were very impressed. Their other games are great as well. It was an easy choice.”
He also let slip that Tara Strong would be doing the voice of “Mega Mare.” If you are interested in this train wreck of a game, players can expect to play it when it launches next year on April 1st.
Well, I guess its not THAT bad.
Capcom just announced a new gameplay mode for their upcoming port of the 3DS title, Resident Evil Revelations. Infernal Mode not only offers more enemies or stronger enemies like a lot of games with changing difficulties do, but it also takes the formula a step further and remixes things like item placement and enemy placement. Infernal mode actually promises to be so hard, there is a warning on the screen to first time players that you can see in the video below.
Resident Evil Revelations hits Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on May 24th, 2013.
Before you start groaning, rolling your eyes, and open up Paint to paste together a tollface comic to make fun of Capcom, you should read all the details of this patch.
In April, a month after Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is released, a patch is rolling out. This patch isn’t to fix anything that’s broken, but rather to add new features! This patch will enable monster hunters from. North America and Europe to play together online. It will also add off-TV functionality, a feature that will be missing from the game when it ships.
Capcom also announced it will be supporting the game for several months with free DLC quests, the first of which will be available on the launch day of March 19th.
Information has been released on Serebii regarding the newest event Pokemon to be released for owners of Pokemon Black/White and Pokemon Black/White 2.
Starting on March 4th and ending on March 24th, Pokefans can head to their local GameStop or EB Games and download this special Pokemon to their games. It is a psychic type Pokemon that has previously been unavailable to players, and it has the distinction of being the only Pokemon with more than one form who can transform during battle.
It also has really fancy hair!
Yesterday, Sony held a press conference and streamed it for the world to see. Reactions among gamers and gaming press alike ranged from underwhelmed to outraged (with a smattering of overjoyed). The new system promises to deliver a plethora of social options, and the ability to stream a game demo from the cloud without having to download it. Overall though, it seems like more of the same from Sony, and what little changes they’re making are ideas they’ve borrowed from their competitors.
Check out the video below for what is probably the most brilliant, and hilarious summary of the PS4 reveal press conference.
Valve recently announced the launch of their popular digital games distribution platform, Steam, for Linux. This is exciting for open source software hippies like myself, who use Linux as part of their every day computing life.
The client can be easily downloaded via the Ubuntu Software Center (Ubuntu is the recommended Linux distribution for Steam), and to celebrate the launch over 50 Linux compatible games are 50-75% off until Thursday, February 21st.
Now if only I could get a PC worth playing games on…
This may be old news for a lot of you, but late is better than never, right? Capcom recently announced some more details concerning it’s upcoming action adventure game, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. This game is one of the first for Wii U that will allow cross platform play between its 3DS counterpart; meaning you can transfer your save file from the Wii U to the 3DS and play your same game on the go, and vice versa.
If you aren’t familiar with the Monster Hunter series, it pits players against fearsome monsters and gives them the opportunity to upgrade their equipment with materials obtained from these monsters. A demo hits the eShop for both systems on February 21st. The game’s retail release date follows soon after on March 22nd.
If you are as excited about this game as we are, you will probably enjoy looking at the pile of screenshots below.
Even with Mario missing, Luigi won’t be alone. Nintendo has announced it’s upcoming Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will feature both online and local multi-player.
Nintendo has released another Nintendo Direct video centered on the Wii U. Here’s a handy list, complete with opinions and commentary, on all that was shown.
You’ve heard me gush about The NESkimos and Random Encounter for a while now. It would be alright to assume that I would love to see some sort of collaboration. Well that possibility has come true with the release of Random Encounter’s new song Dead Labs. Along with Random Encounter, Dr Wily of the NESkimos joins forces to throw down an amazingly crafted Video Game inspired energy fueled rockgasm.
It comes at the perfect time too, as not only was this song inspired by System Shock, but also heavily influenced by Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Dead Space 3 is right around the corner, so maybe check out this jam to build the hype.
