What’s “Gold Farming” you ask? Let me elaborate… Continue Reading
I consider myself to be like a connoisseur of the internet and some shit. My tastes are refined. While many of you are wasting your time away on shit like TMZ, Perez Hilton, the Drudge Report or stock market trackers, I go on to sample the creme de la creme of the web. The best of the best. The kind of shit this pile of tubes was really meant for.
So, after reading my past entries for most of the day, I then decided to go ‘slumming’, as it were, and decided to check in on the chums over at Cracked.com. And whilst there, I gave myself the time to indulge in one of my guilty pleasures. You see, although it shames me to admit it (not really, but whatever. I’ve kinda got a theme here), I’m quite keen on two of the blogger fellows they employ there. Namely Dan O’Brien, and a more recent addition, Robert Brockway.
I really like the cartoon, Afro Samurai from Adult Swim. The voice of Samuel L. Jackson really ups the interest in the show for me (hey, let’s face it – he’s a Bad Mutha Fucker).
Not that it would make or break a video game entry for the series but it would be cool if he lent his voice to the game. The anime styling here really looks great and slicing guys straight in half never gets old does it?

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s post about Uwe Boll’s House of the Dead being the worst movie ever I bring you news of the Worst Game Ever.
To be fair I did enjoy House of the Dead (the video game) back in the day. I think light gun shooters are pretty much a thing of the past though. They belong in arcades and museums.
Certainley there are those of you who will disagree. You’re wrong. They made it look like a B movie cause they know it sucks. They’re just doing a public service.
Are people really buying into this stuff still? I thought this sort of exploitation of chicks in video games died along with Dead Or Alive: Beach Volleyball.
In fairness the game look OK at best but the music video is definitely worth a watch and probably not safe for work if you have a prude boss.
I love bikinis and I love zombies but I don’t know if I love them together… Continue Reading
The people rejoice. Yay…!
Ubisoft announced that they are planning sequels to Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell this year – 2009.
I have to say I’m pretty excited about the prospect on all three of these games and if you know what’s good for you you’ll read the rest of my article to find out why. Else I will come into your home and I will cut you.
Real-Time Strategy games and consoles are like oil and water. They don’t mix. But if ever an RTS game was going to avoid sucking like crazy on a console, then Halo Wars looks like the game that might break from that sad tradition.
And it looks like it won’t be long before we get to find out exactly where things stand for ourselves. Game | Life has brought us the news that a fully playable demo of Halo Wars (exclusively for the Xbox 360) will be available on the Xbox Marketplace come February 5th. The full release follows nearly a month later on March 3.
As I’ve said again and again, RTS games tend to be just awful on consoles. I don’t even know why they bothered with Command & Conquer ports. But with Halo Wars being developed with the 360 in mind, maybe this one will be different. Here’s hoping that the pedigree and design direction actually pan out instead of crashing and burning.
I know I go on and on about how pumped I am for Resident Evil 5. The entire lineage of the game has always intrigued me. I read a couple of the books based on the game (as I’ve done with the Halo franchise) and some would call me a geek but the kind of stuff going on in some of these games rival some of the best movies in theatres. This trailer has put me up over the top plummeting head first into a sea of lust for this game.
A fine good morning to all you jerkity-jerks.
I totally missed this fact last night, and as such, I have yet to play it. But CHUD.com was happy to tell us that the F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo is now available on Xbox Live (
it does not appear that it is up on PSN yet UPDATE – Ars Technica is reporting that the demo is now on PSN as well. Enjoy).
I’m looking forward to giving this one a go, but as I’ve speculated on in the past, I really wonder how well a F.E.A.R. sequel is going to work in the wake of far more immersive horror/shooter experiences like Dead Space, or as a precursor to the forthcoming Resident Evil 5. Continue Reading
Well over at Epic they finally dropped what they call a “Title Update” for Gears of War 2. Patch is such an ugly word that MS has deemed that making bug fixes to their games will henceforth be referred to as Title Updates. Whatever.
The complete list of fixes is attached if you care to read through them. In short though the Gears of War 2 multiplayer stuff should feel more fair and balanced now. There should be a lot less glitching and cheating (something TheJRE.com does not condone – unless we’re losing an uphill battle, in which case we’d just nuke you.)
