New IP’s are somewhat rare these days, especially from the big names. It’s nice to see Capcom announce a brand new title. It’s even better to see some diversity with the a brand new female character. Continue Reading

In a new teaser trailer created for the upcoming Gamescom, Ubisoft is introducing Rayman fans to a new playable character, Barbara. Barbara appears to be a viking of some sort. Missing teeth, long red hair, a helmet, and a sweet axe that seems to cause all sorts of destruction.
Yannik Hegge offers his first-hand perspective on GamesCom 2011; the sights, the sounds, the crowds…the crowds.
First off, I’m sure as you read this title you were scratching your head. What the hell is Huttball? When I saw it I was almost as baffled, but then became super excited. Huttball is a Warzone in BioWare’s upcoming MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. It is a Warzone like no other we’ve seen so far. Its actually a blood sport type deal on Nar Shadda. Two teams compete to grab a ball in the center of the arena and run it across the opponents goal line for points. It looks as thought its not limited by faction, so we can play against our faction buddies. This gives me an idea about forming Huttball leagues! The thing that intrigues me is in the video it looks like you can lob the ball to others on your team. The best thing, instead of tackling them, you can shove your light saber in their face. It kind of reminds me of Blitzball mixed with Grifball. Good to see BioWare is mixing it up with the Warzones.
Edit: This is the new trailer straight from the SWTOR website. Much better quality than the original one posted.
Disney fans, rejoice! The introductory cinematic to Epic Mickey, the upcoming Wii title staring the world’s most iconic cartoon mouse, debuted at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and from the looks of it the title could easily live up to it’s name.
The adventure platformer, developed by Junction Studios, is a throwback to all things Disney from an era that your grandparents can only vaguely recall. Mickey, armed with paint and paint thinner, must traverse “the Wasteland” of forgotten or rejected cartoon characters and worlds, completing various missions inspired by Walt Disney’s animation of yesteryear. Using paint, he is able to alter the landscape around him, and through the use of paint thinner he can erase structures and defeat enemies.
Although the first years of Disney animation are a subject I know little about, Epic Mickey is among the Wii titles I’m most looking forward to in the remainder of the 2010 year. Even though you too are probably too young to have first hand experience with the likes of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Who? Exactly.) you’re likely already familiar with a handful of classic ‘toons like “Steamboat Willie” that are represented in the game. Based on everything I’ve seen and heard about this title since this year’s E3, I’m impressed with Epic Mickey‘s visual style. Using paint and paint thinner in order to progress through the game is an extremely unique concept, and I’m happy to see that the game’s creators were not afraid to steer the game in a slightly dark direction. It appears as though Epic Mickey could bring gamers into the worlds of Disney’s early animation, much as the Kingdom Hearts franchise has captured the environment and feel of more modern settings.
Epic Mickey is scheduled to be released this holiday season, exclusively for the Wii.
The sequel to Bioware’s sci-fi RPG epic, previously an Xbox 360 exclusive, was announced at GamesCom today to be heading the PS3’s way in January 2011. Bioware’s Dr. Ray came on the stage of EA’s press conference and spilled the beans, and the company has also added that “The PlayStation 3 edition will include the full Mass Effect 2 game and hours of bonus content.” For now, hit up the debut trailer below.
